Brentwood Bay, British Columbia
Brentwood Bay, is a small neighbourhood in the municipality of Central Saanich, on the Saanich Peninsula. It is located on Highway 17A just west of Highway 17 , the main route running the length of the Saanich Peninsula, north of the city of Victoria and south of Sidney on the southern tip of Vancouver Island.
Situated on the Saanich Inlet, it includes the world-famous Butchart Gardens.The region is host to many wineries and restaurants.Previously named Slugget, after pioneer John Sluggett who settled in the area in 1876, the village of Brentwood Bay was given the rather more appealing name in 1925. Brentwood Village takes its name from the English town of Brentwood in Essex, home town of R.M. Horne-Payne, president of the British Columbia Electric Company in the 1920s.

Central Saanich, British Columbia
The Municipality of Saanich was incorporated on March 1, 1906. With an area of 11,179 hectares, it is the largest of the core municipalities making up Greater Victoria. Central Saanich had a population of 108,265 in 2005 up from 103,654 (2001)
The Municipality is in a major position within the metropolitan area. The Trans Canada Highway enters from the west and the Pat Bay Highway enters from the north, they converge within the Municipality and run parallel into the City of Victoria.
Traditionally, Saanich has been the gateway to the downtown core of Victoria. Its location within the region has resulted in a dual role, half of the Municipality is urban and half is rural and agricultural.
Saanich can best be described as a bedroom community serving the City of Victoria. Single family dwellings are the predominant land use. As of December 31, 1997 there were 39,237 dwelling units accommodating a population of about 106,000 persons. About 71% of the dwellings were single family. Map

Colwood, British Columbia
Colwood is a city located on Vancouver Island to the southwest of Victoria, capital of British Columbia. Colwood was incorporated in 1985 and has a population of approximately 15,000 people. Colwood lies within the boundaries of the Capital Regional District within an area called the Western Communities, or the West Shore.
The military college was closed in the 1990s and the lands have since formed the campus for Royal Roads University which opened in 1995. The original residence is surrounded by extensive and attractive gardens, including a Japanese garden.
Colwood's best known landmark is Hatley Castle, a castle-like building originally built as a residence for James Dunsmuir, Premier and later Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia.
The city is the site for many regional amenities, including the Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre, Bear Mountain Arena, and the library facilities for the Western Communities.
Colwood had a population of 14,687 people in 2006, which was an increase of 6.9% from the 2001 census count. Map
Duncan
A population of only 5,000, Duncan is now the commercial centre of the region serving over 80,000 people. Originally a whistle stop for the E&N Railway, the City began to expand when a train station, now a national heritage site, was built in 1887 attracting new business and settlement to the area.
Much of the city’s residential, commercial and retail lies within the adjacent Municipality, effectively giving greater Duncan a population of about 30,000. This vibrant community features all modern amenities and services while retaining its historic charm. The City boasts many architecturally interesting buildings, including the unique City Hall Clock Tower. Map

Esquimalt, British Columbia
The Township of Esquimalt is located on the southeast coast of Vancouver Island, four kilometres west of the City of Victoria, in the heart of the Capital Region District.
Esquimalt's name is derived from a local First Nations expression "Es-whoy-malth," which means the place of gradually shoaling water. The municipality was incorporated in 1912 and comprises approximately 1006 hectacres (2,485 acres) of land and water. Water figures prominently inEsquimalt’s history, location and residents’ lifestyles.
Esquimalt is the home of Canada’s naval presence on the West Coast and was first used by the Royal Navy as early as 1837.
The original Esquimalt townsite has long since disappeared inside the boundaries of the Canadian Forces Base, which is now the community’s largest employer.
Today, 17,000 people live in Esquimalt’s varied residential neighbourhoods and enjoy its many amenities including beautiful parks and beaches, scenic waterfront walkways, modern recreational facilities, schools, library, archives, and commercial services. Fulford Harbour, British Columbia
Fulford Harbour is a residential community on the southeast side of Saltspring Island, British Columbia, and about 20 minutes south of Ganges. Located near the island's southern end. Fulford Harbour is the site of a BC Ferries terminal with regular ferry service to Swartz Bay on Vancouver Island. It is mostly residential but has a gas station and grocery store, a restaurant, an art gallery, a marina. Victoria is about a 45 minute drive from the Swartz Bay ferry terminal. Map

Hatley Park, Greater Victoria
Hatley Park is a neighbourhood in Colwood, British Columbia. Named after Hatley Park National Historic Site, it is the home of Royal Roads University. Another notable landmark in the area is the Hatley Memorial Gardens, a large cemetery located opposite Hatley Park National Historic Site.

The District of Highlands is a municipal district on the Saanich Peninsula, near Victoria. One of the Western Communities or West Shore municipalities outside Victoria, Highlands has a population of 1,903 as of 2006.
